Johanna JordanIn an industry that has become saturated by manufactured artistry enters Latina singer-songwriter Johanna Jordan – perhaps one of the greatest voices you’ve never heard! Gifted with a talent that belies her 23 years, Johanna’s beauty is as rare as the deep, emotive voice that has captivated listeners from Tampa Bay Idol (preliminary competition to American Idol) to over 200,000 followers on YouTube! But what does a young new artist do in a land of Beyonces’ and Gagas’? You create your own formula: talent + talent = talent!

Born of Colombian parentage, Johanna’s love of her heritage is apparent from the first to the last note of the original songs from her forthcoming EP, Yo Si Puedo. From the sultry love song, “No Es Amor” (It’s Not Love), a ballad about celebrating positive love, to the up-tempo “Yo Si Puedo” (Yes, I Can), this inspiring artist’s mission is clear in the refrain that declares, “Don’t let that insecurity take away your opportunity.” It’s undeniable that Johanna wants to use her music as a platform that is so often undervalued in the entertainment industry. “I want to be a voice for others,” she shares. “I don’t want my music to just entertain but inspire, especially the youth of today. I just hope that my songs will validate so many of the feelings that we all share.”

At an early age, Johanna learned that perseverance and dedication were the only tools she needed to succeed in the music industry. And while some listeners will inevitably liken her music to popular artists like Mark Anthony, Enrique Iglesias, Luis Fonsi or Camila, it was really the music of late Latin-Pop sensation, Selena, that first inspired her to be an artist. “The very first cassette I owned was of Selena’s album. Her music was fun to sing and dance to, but she was also proud of her culture. I really looked up to her.” Much like the late Latin princess’s path to stardom, Johanna’s love for music is definitely a family affair. Thanks to her father, a noted Colombian musician who toured across Colombia with the likes of Grupo Niche, Johanna grew up surrounded with the infectious sounds of Latin music. Today, she still celebrates that diverse culture as a vivacious Latin woman in search of the American dream.

While Johanna Jordan’s name may not yet be a household name, her talent has clearly been recognized by some of the industry’s finest. Early in her career, she was introduced to Yewande, internationally renowned singer-songwriter (Black Eyed Peas, India Arie, Enrique Iglesias) who she counts as a mentor. In 2009, Johanna had an opportunity to work with producer/engineer Milton Salcedo (Luis Enrique, Olga Tañon, Alejandro Fernandez, Grupo Niche, Jerry Rivera) who later produced songs on her forthcoming EP, Yo Si Puedo; with additional support by engineer Boris Milan (Carlos Santana, Alejandro Fernandez, Ricardo Montaner, Olga Tañon, and Jerry Rivera), Johanna’s music is destined to land in heavy rotation as one of your favorite new artists!
